What size is a Magnum condom?

A Trojan Magnum is 55 mm wide at the base and flares to 62 mm at the head; it is 180–200 mm long. By width it fits a girth of about 11.5–12.5 cm (4.5–4.9 in). Magnum XL is 58 mm, for about 12.1–13.2 cm (4.8–5.2 in). Length is rarely the reason to buy one: almost every condom is long enough.

What size condom do I need?

Measure your girth, not your length. A condom should be a little narrower than you — about 45% of your girth when laid flat — so it grips without squeezing. The average girth, 4.6 in, takes a 53 mm condom: the regular size most brands sell.

Condom sizes, from snug to extra large

  • Snug under 52 mm, for a girth under about 4.5 in
  • Regular 52–54 mm, for about 4.5 in to 4.7 in
  • Large 55–60 mm, for about 4.8 in to 5.2 in
  • Extra large 64 mm and up, for about 5.5 in and more

How to measure girth

Erect, wrap a soft tape measure (or a strip of paper, then lay it on a ruler) around the middle of the shaft. Snug, not squeezed. Measure twice and take the average.

Too tight or too loose?

Too tight is uncomfortable and more likely to break; too loose can slip off. If you sit between two sizes, the snugger one usually stays on better, and a thinner material can make it feel less tight.
